Duncan Bannatyne: I want to break free
Tomorrow is No Smoking Day and here is a video featuring Duncan Bannatyne.
It's good to see that someone in the anti-smoking movement has a sense of humour but ultimately it's too close to the original for its own good.
Also, if you didn't know that this was a video about smoking, would you be any the wiser? Apart from the opening frames, there's not a single cigarette in sight!
Perhaps they were frightened that the sight of a man in drag pushing a Hoover with one hand and holding a cigarette with the other might discourage people from quitting.
Or, worse, might encourage us to start.
I understand why the London Fire Brigade want people to take care with cigarettes. But I don't see why their latest press release should read, "For more information and advice on giving up smoking and No Smoking Day visit: www.nosmokingday.org.uk".
Oh, I forgot. When humourless Ian Willmore, former public affairs manager at ASH, left the organisation in 2006, he become head of public affairs for ... the London Fire Brigade.

Let's face it: ALL anti-smoking campaigns are getting to be a drag.
As are the campaigners................
I wandered over to the wequit website and, I know I shouldn't laugh, but the banner proudly proclaims that it's helped - wait for it - 46 people to quit.
Reminds me of an evangelical proclaiming, "If I save only one soul my life will have been worthwhile".
Public affairs officer.
So how much does that cost me ?
So if you are a man the best way to give up is put on a PVC skirt and wig?
Let us also enlist the help of Ian Wilmore to amend the smoking ban. Direct Line Home Insurance found that house fires rose during the autumn and winter due to "People smoking indoors due to colder and wetter weather."
So come on Ian,if the fire service is so keen to save lives call for that separate smoking room in pubs.
The full list of reasons are here.
There are several factors which contribute to the increase in house fires in the winter:
Faulty Christmas lighting and decorations are major reasons why December has more fires in the home than any other month.
The popularity and use of candles and oil burners around the home as an aesthetic design feature.
Heaters and open fires being left unattended as temperatures drop.
People smoking indoors due to colder and wetter weather.
Faulty or misused household appliances such as electric heaters, electric blankets and cookware used more commonly in the winter.

It looks like Duncan has been on the booze again and put his wife's clothes on by mistake.
I preferred the original version - Freddie was better looking!!
How ironic that they should have chosen a song sung by Freddie Mercury, who is reputed to have claimed, when asked about his impressive vocal range, that he achieved the high notes through wearing “extraordinarily tight trousers” and the low notes through “smoking plenty of cigarettes.”
"he wants to break free"? shame he can't break a neck!
reformed smokers are the worst pond life in this war!
Well my 13 year old hasn't got a clue who Freddie Mercury is. (I'm annoyed at that though, as I adored him in my younger years. Some education needed there I believe).
He's into rock bands I've never even heard of.
It just shows how out of touch Duncan B actually is with reality to get involved with this. It proves that he is living in his own, well-financed, yet little, bigoted world.
