Tonight's television ...

Just to remind you that I am on The One Show (BBC1) tonight between 7.00 and 7.30pm. The filmed report also features Forest patron Antony Worrall Thompson and Duncan Bannatyne, president (!) of No Smoking Day.

A few minutes ago one of the production team rang and said "You definitely got your point across". Why, then, do I feel so nervous?

Sophie Dahl, a former smoker, is tonight's special guest. Or, as The One Show website puts it, "Sophie Dahl joins Adrian and Christine to talk about her new TV cookery show."

I may not be in the studio tonight but at least I can tell my grandchildren we appeared on the same programme.

Lets look at the "facts" Chiles came out with.

Smoking gone down- nope static or increased.

Health benefits from less passive smoking- no ncrease in heart attacks.

Cot deaths - entiley unproven.

Home smoking - gone up, see Dr. Patrick Basham's paper.

Smoking while driving - responsible for 0.1% of accidents, by comparison one passenger increases accidents by 18%.

Lung cancer in children - 34 papers published, 3 show a raised risk, 11 show a protective effect, 20 are staistically insignificant.

l blinked and missed it ... all l got was that idiot Mark going on how smoking should be banned in cars because you drive one-handed!

That's it then, no manual shift cars, no indicators blah blah blah ... then the usual drivel.

To be truthful thats all l expected of Pravda ... they didn't disappoint.

Smoking "has" now become a civil rights issue.
Very much so.
Time to get angry.

I love the way it slid from 'no smoking in cars with children b/c of the health "risks"' to 'no smoking in cars b/c of the dangers from one-handed driving'. Smart, VERY smart. Bloke can't even speak English. 'have one less hand to drive with' UGH, Illiterate fucktard.
