Wanted: comments on e-cigarettes

I am on the road or in meetings for much of the day so I'll leave you to discuss e-cigarettes.

According to the headline on the BBC website today: "Proof lacking on e-cigarettes safety, experts warn".

If you think about this, the headline could equally read: "No proof that e-cigarettes cause harm, experts say" ... but that's not really much of a story.

I was asked to comment but I don't know very much about e-cigarettes and I didn't want to say something for the hell of it. Eventually, after a bit of thought, I said:

"Given what we currently know [about e-cigarettes], there seems little cause for alarm and I would caution against any form of scaremongering.

"I don't know anyone who uses e-cigarettes as a permanent replacement for cigarettes, but they are useful in certain situations - on a long-haul flight, for example - where smoking is banned.

"That apart, they can be quite expensive so I can't imagine anyone using them for any length of time, or in any quantity, so one would assume that the health risks, if any, are minimal."

They didn't use it.

Full story HERE.

The video above is courtesy of a website called Mini Cigarette. If anyone uses or has tried an e-cigarette, perhaps you'd like to comment.

Please don't be too hard on little Otto boys, he has to be up early for school tomorrow, and even there I bet he is being bullied by the bigger boys.

I agree with Otter, I mean, how can anything else in the world smell, when everyone knows it is only cigarettes that stink?
Well said Otter

Ah, the old stereotypical 'schoolboy' jibes. Probably preferrable to being some predictable old middle-aged harpie though eh?

And as for smell's 'Spocky', you sarcastic hero:
You haven't been reading the stone cold facts supplied by the genius earlier on. Everything on earth smells. Except maybe cigarettes and smokers clothes. They don't apparantly.

Don't worry though; you undoubtedly DO smell of desperation and faeces.

I too agree with little Otto. Of course fags smell horrible, in fact all things connected with smoke smell horrible. What about barbecues - candles - hamburger grills - bonfires - car-exhausts - factory chimneys ?

And its not just things that actually smoke, its also things that look like they might smoke, or could that possibly effect the Vaper puffers on here?

Anyway Ott, I reckon you get the picture by now dont you? We have to stick together, people like us, and show these terrible smokey people just what we think of them dont we.

Power to the pure!

Cigarette smoke doesn't smell horrible.

What does, is when it permeates other things & you get that stale smell, as I encountered in my vehicles.

I would be interested to know what are your sources for making that statement. Is there an Act of Parliament or a Regulation which says so? Please specify how this 'illegality' came about.

Vegetable Glycerine based E-Liquid contains less sugar and adds more flavor I got some from eliquid4u and the vaping is great.

The smell from e-cigarettes is barely noticable, I've asked a few of my mates can you smell anything, and they all agreed nothing.

Those same mates all hated the smell of my normal cigarettes when i lit up near them.

The truth is, cigarettes reak, how anyone can say any other is plainly ridiculous.

I tried e-cigarettes out as i was sick of feeling knackered but still enjoyed a smoke. Needed a solution. so now i don't smoke at all, tried one a few days after buying an e-cig, couldn't stand it, so now i'm a 'Vaper'.

And happy and proud of it.

I have been a smoker for many year. I'd say the first time I had a "drag" was when I was 14 yrs old., I am 47 now, and most of my life, especially past about 14 has been completely addicted to smoking and chewing tobacco.. I have tried patches, Zyban, gum, and the latest, nicorette inhaler. I found instant relief off the inhaler. Since my first dosage I have been able to quite smoking fully. I found loads of information on "kiwi drug", and have not touched a smoke in 5 months. PS no side effects for me either

Err Something wrong there. Where did the author get the idea they are expensive? My friend put me onto them late November 09 but I didn't purchase one until February as I still had a stock of cheap imported rolling tobacco. The initial cost of the kit may cost a litle but since I spend less than I did on illegal rolling tobacco! Try buying tobacco for between £20 and £40 per month or less for two people!
Vaping since Feb 10 2010 and never looked back.
