Freedom to offend
Thursday, February 12, 2009
How much literature and art never sees the light of day because of the nervous consensus “Thou shalt not offend”?, asks the Institute of Ideas' Shirley Dent on The Free Society website. See HERE.
Tonight, at the Bishopsgate Institute in London, you can discuss the issue at length when the IoI, in association with Index on Censorship, present From Fatwa and Book-Burning to Jihad and Hate Laws: Twenty Years of Free-Speech Wars. Details HERE.

I dont know what it achieved giving Salman Rushdie safe harbour after the fatwa put on him by his muslim fellowmen.
He ended up living a western lifestyle and all the big brother type notriety that goes with it, marrying a white big brother type celeb and making a fortune making speeches on the circuits, and partying at so called celeb events. What was it all about.
In my opinion muslims should be left to sort out their own religious and fatwa affairs amoungst themselves.
I think muslims would be better off staying in their own country as they dont approve of western ways when they do relocate.
