Dates for your diary

Following Friday's jaunt to Manchester I can report that, for the first time ever, Forest will be hosting meetings at all three main party conferences.

We start at the Lib Dem conference in Bournemouth by joining forces with Progressive Vision to discuss "How liberal are the Liberal Democrats?".

In Manchester we will be advising Labour "How to win back the smokers' vote".

And at the Conservative conference in Birmingham we are working with The Freedom Association to create a two-day mini-conference that will cover a whole range of subjects from taxation and climate change to lifestyle and civil liberties.

Unlike our events in Bournemouth and Manchester, The Freedom Zone is outside the secure area so you don't need a conference pass. Entry is free and is open to all.

Watch THIS space for more details.

We must remind everybody that the smoking ban has been a great success. A great success for the SNP and the Tories.
Labour may be able to win back some of their smoking voters by making some exemptions, saying that the ban is hurting industry and people's social lives.

I find your comment strange, the SNP were the first Party to initiate the request for a Smoking Ban in Scotland when Stewart Maxwell MSP introduced his Private Members Bill and backed the Scottish Labour Party all the way to its introduction on 26th March 2006. The Tories were the only Party in Scotland to vote against the total ban in Scotland.

What has to be done is to look towards Europe where many of the countries have retained CHOICE. This is why The International Coalition Against Prohibition has chosen the European Parliament Building in Brussels as its venue for the Spring Conference on the 27th - 28th January and will present the truth regarding Smoking Bans globally.

There is no need for Licensed Smoking Rooms as being advocated by Forest, all that is needed is to expose the scientific evidence that ETS is nothing more than an irritant that can be removed by modern Air Filtration, introduce seperate smoking rooms with an Indoor Air Quality Standard and allow the businesses to decide. Why advocate a further license when HMG gets enough money from businesses amd the customers by way of indirect taxation?

Sorry to go off subject a bit, but I remember seeing somewhere someone mentioning that an hotel chain had gone totally no smoking. I have just discovered, and thought I would pass it on, that Travel Lodges are now totally non smoking, including rooms - Smokers Beware!
