I'm on News 24 at 11.30 this morning, if anyone's interested. It's an outside broadcast from the Crabtree Tavern in Hammersmith, part of a series of items being broadcast in advance of the smoking ban.

I've got News 24 on now and it is almost 11.30am - our great premier on his farewell tour of the world is on speaking about helping people in Africa with Mbeki. What about us?!! I hope Simon is broadcast because I, for one, want to hear someone actually be able to speak up for ordinary people over here in Britain for once!! Also, Alan Johnston coverage is of paramount importance just now.
Well said, Simon! Obviously you must have eventually (by about 11.54am) got a whole 3 minutes of air time, but you made your points clearly and well. I have the distinct impression that those in charge are not taking this issue very seriously, but they are under-estimating this particular situation.
I echo Jenny's thoughts. It was a nice piece.
In a later segment the reporter talked with Elspeth Lee of CRUK, who repeated the lie that smoker bans were popular. She said that 600 people a year were "killed" by passive smoking in England.
Amazing stuff, the numpties north of the border tell us that SHS kills 865 Scots per year. Its amazing because we have a population 10 times smaller than England. Our SHS in Scotland is clearly much more lethal than English SHS.
I'll keep News 24 on. I think there are other reports from the same chap throughout the day.
To give Elspeth her due at least the 600 figure was in line with the risk as published by Cancer UK and not hugely inflated as seems to be the trend.
The variation in death toll every time one of these antis brings it up should be the clue to everyone. They don't KNOW the number. There certainly IS a number of deaths due to ETS but it's possible that number is ZERO.
If I'd known it was in Fulham at least 1 day in advance I'd have been there.
Elspeth said that passive smoking was a killer, yet she was interviewed in a pub where people were smoking. Was she committing suicide or talking out of her backside.
Chas I didn't see the item but now I wish I had. Considering that there is no other item on Earth that is "unsafe at any level" she was most certainly committing suicide.
