The anti-smoking juggernaut rolls on. Motorists in California face a fine if they are caught smoking in cars if children are present. Also in Calif0rnia, residents of Belmont whose secondhand smoke "invades" their neighbours' apartments have 14 months to kick the habit, work out a compromise with their nonsmoking neighbours or, in the words of the San Francisco Chronicle, "get out of town". Charming.

Indeed, Belmont is an evil place and its governing body was transported from Salem. They are truly, truly mentally ill much like many of the members of ASH are universally.
As for Governor Schwartzenegger signing the bill to pass the Belmont edict, dare he do anything else? He is after all a very big girl's blouse and not at all tough like the characters he likes to play. I am sure, however, that this king size creep will continue to enjoy his cigars. One law for Arnie, another for everyone else.
I have just read the comments on the other side of the Pond regarding the new laws in Belmont. One claim that came through on the subsequent comments was the evidence regarding SHS. Even the morons in WHO could not show any factual evidence to support their claim as proven (factually) in 1998. The WHO on their website claim that smoking causes everything from boils to ingrown toenails. Surprisingly, all these symptoms existed hundreds before tobacco arrived in this country. I have looked into the archives of most online newspapers - worldwide- but have found no item in situations vacant for the post of God or Allah. However, members of WHO, HMG, NHS and ASH have taken it upon themselves to take control of apparent vacancy.
In the press, we hear about the 90 deaths from MRSA in an English Hospital. Are these same misfits going to blame MRSA on smoking tobacco? Recently Gordon Brown referred to the Bible in one of his pathetic speeches but misses one vital important part of scripture. Thou shalt not bear false witness. This simply means that if the evidence does not support the argument he should keep his opinions to himself and that applies to all other misfits. Percentages mean sod all. Only scientific measurements can be used to back a scientific argument. Of the chemicals that Sir Liam Donaldson claims that in tobacco smoke cause cancer and other ailments then he should learn to read. In a glass of tap water, the same chemicals are present but to excuse (percentages) these are 20,000% greater.
Since this Moronic Ban was introduced, the drug companies are now introducing free use of expensive drugs. Why do you think? The simple answer is the NHS is pushing the sale of NRT patches which gives these cowboys more money for little outlay. They tell that prostitution is the oldest profession. Well! This is what we have with these Despots. There is no difference.
In the 60s, Asbestos was claimed as a cause of lung cancer. So why has the HMG and NHS built hospitals in the mid 70s using this product. A few months ago this came to light at Glan Clwyd Hospital in North Wales. The NHS wasted £67 million on anti-smoking propaganda whilst patients died from MRSA. Shouldn’t these morons be locked up in mental institutions where they can’t kill more people by their sod you attitude.

The article "California Screaming" should be changed to "Britain screaming". Because before long these perfidious laws will be introduced here. Before anyone says "That could never happen", look at the facts. 10 years ago, if you'd said you cannot smoke in your own car or home, people would've laughed at you. Yet this is happening in some circumstances. You cannot smoke in your car when you are driving...you cannot smoke in your home when a health visitor or social worker visits you. Even 5 years ago, if you'd said you could not smoke in the open air or at a bus shelter, you'd've been called an idiot - but this is also happening. It may take a few years to catch up with the Americans and Australians, but it will come. Even France, Italy and Spain, the bastion of the smoker, have brought in anti-smoking laws. The only thing smokers can do is to buy an island somewhere and claim it as a sovereign state!
