Boisdale of Canary Wharf

Had lunch yesterday at Boisdale of Belgravia. For months (years?) Boisdale MD Ranald Macdonald has been telling me about a project to open a similar smoker-friendly bar restaurant in London's Docklands.
It has now been announced that Boisdale of Canary Wharf will open in "early 2011" and will feature an "amazing cigar terrace". See HERE.
My information is that BCW will open its doors on Burns' Night (January 25). Should be quite a party.
Ranald has also been talking about opening a Boisdale bar restaurant in Washington DC. World domination awaits!
Above: Boisdale of Canary Wharf "will occupy the entire façade of the first and second floors of Cabot Hall overlooking the fountains of Cabot Square with uninterrupted views to City of London skyline".

Well done and best of luck to Ranald MacDonald for opening a new smoking bar, anyone that puts smoking on the menu when opening a new bar/cafe/restaurant gets my vote.
Maybe I'm just an old curmudgeon but looking at the photo of that Gotham City like building I personally would much rather have a drink and a fag in the old style BB rather than BCW,
Jazz or no Jazz, I think a jazz club should be kept small and intimate with a fog of smoke to be right, OK they got rid of the smoke but 200 people.
Who wants a concert!
Hope its not going the way of the superpub.
It will certainly be on my list of new places to try, especially as I can get to Canary Wharf by Docklands Light Railway in 10 minutes from where I live.
I know Ann says she would rather have the old style Boisdale, but have you been to Canary Wharf Ann? As the sun goes down, the buildings start to light up, and the views are absolutely amazing, very reminiscent of New York.
Peter I will be joining you it is 20 minutes from where I live in east London.
Ann I understand your point of view but Canary Wharf does has a vibrancy and all the times I have been there you would never get one dirty look for smoking.
Its in the diary aleady.
Out of curiosity, why 'cigar terrace' rather than 'smoking terrace'?
What a pity we can't have the same in Nottingham.
