Lumley has Brown by the balls

Joanna Lumley is giving a masterclass in political campaigning. Yesterday, frustrated by the Government's reluctance to act to ensure all former Gurkha soldiers are given the right to settle in the UK, she told the Home Affairs select committee, "I don't know what I have to do ... I don't understand democracy".

Then she let slip that she has received a letter of support from a member of the royal family for her campaign.

Finally she told the committee, "I wrote to the Prime Minister three times but I'm afraid my letter wasn't acknowledged."

Named and shamed, Brown was forced to meet his tormentor-in-chief. And what did Lumley do? Did she rant and rail? Not at all. She positively cooed her appreciation. She is sure Gordon Brown will do the "right thing" for the Gurkhas. The Prime Minister, she said, is a "man of integrity".

"I trust him," she said. "I rely on him and know he has now taken this matter into his own hands."

Pure genius.

See HERE and HERE.

'has Brown by the balls.............'

WHAT FU......NG 'BALLS' ?

The man heads a Government of Schoolgirls (not of the St Trinian's variety, alas)...........and Eunuchs (nearly forgot them).

Mr Cameron's obviously up FOR it.

But is he up TO it ?

We'll find out soon enough, no doubt......

Brilliant quote from her press conference today, on being asked if she could trust Brown after previously being ignored following a successful court case:

To be fair to the government, they did revise their policy. The fact that the policy was disastrous is neither here nor there

I understand that Joanna went to Number 10 today and Gordon came.

Excellent! The Gurkhas make some of the best curries I've ever eaten! Nice and hot too!
