Second time lucky

On Friday I finally got to see Quantum of Solace without, er, interruption. The film has received mixed reviews but we really enjoyed it. Yes, it's fast and furious and Bond (as played by Daniel Craig) is a little more than a killing machine. But, like the Bourne trilogy, it works.
I liked Casino Royale but that film was at least 20 minutes too long. A touch more humour wouldn't go amiss but for me Quantum of Solace is the best Bond film since The Living Daylights with the ridiculously underrated Timothy Dalton. I might even go and see it again.

Casino Royale..too long? Any film with David Niven in it can't be too long.
Cant agree with you as regards Casino Royale got the video and thought it was so bad only watched half of it. Maybe its to do with the fact that I never liked Daniel Craig as Bond, thought he was a bad choice from the start and I think I have been proven right when I heard that he refused to smoke a fag in the latest bond firm, said it would interfere with his physical prowess. I think Craig's bond portrays a muscle bound thug only concerned with his pecs and his looks and his ability to smash em all to bits while still maintaining his tan and his fit body while giving the impression that there's nothing in the top storey only a glacial stare coming from those crazy looking eyes. I would run a mile if I saw him on a dark night.
Being a huge bond fan I havent seen the latest one as yet and from the reviews I've heard wont be in too much of a hurry, might just wait till it comes on tv. But mark my words he aint going to last long, doubt if he'll be making another.
Give me the more human cigarette smoking Bonds any day like Sean Connery and Roger Moore that had us all enthralled with their suave sophistication and humorous quips.
Like the Bourne trilogy...
Yes, embarrassingly so, I thought. Bang! Crash! Oof! and all that. Terrific action, but completely derivative of the Greengrass/Bourne style.
...it works.
Mmm... I'm not so sure about this. I didn't there was really anything more to the film than the action sequences - as you say, he's little more than a killing machine. I didn't understand what the main villain had to do with the killing of Vesper or why his scheme was of interest to British intelligence. Not was there much care for individuals - did you notice Bond and Camille were quite happy to let the rape victim die?
Oh, and where was the politics? I think Spooks is better.
