Where there's smoke, there's a snitch
Thursday, July 5, 2007
A producer from Five Live calls to say that MPs have been caught smoking in the toilets at the House of Commons. He won't, at this stage, say who or how many, but he wants a list of smoker-friendly MPs for a "light-hearted" item on the subject.
Forget the fact that terrorists are (allegedly) working within NHS hospitals. Let's hunt down and expose anyone who flouts the smoking ban! Personally (if the story is true), I'd like to know who snooped and then snitched on them.
BBC Online reports: "During a Commons debate on Thursday, Labour MP Betty Williams offered to show Leader of the House Harriet Harman where people were smoking - to be met with cries of "division toilets" from other MPs."

I just cannot believe that they have had the audacity to have asked you, of all people. They want to do a light hearted item on the subject? It might be a light hearted thing to them, but it certainly isn't for at least 25% of the adult population of this country.
Maybe you could do some sort of deal with them, where you would be willing to take part in "a light hearted discussion" on are these MPs wrong or not, if, and only if, they undertake to do a "serious item" on their channel regarding the ban in general?
Well I don't think I need to name names here, but given the most famous political anti-smoker in history and the most famous political smoker in history, I'm going to do what statisticians do and extrapolate on that.
The snitch or snitches are likely to end up commiting suicide in a state of fear - a fear that they brought on themselves as a result of wielding power aggressively. The snitched upon are likely to be destined for world-changing greatness by fighting for freedom from tyranny.
(That's if they have the balls to fight, of course - but I expect they'll just continue to hide out in the loo rather than reach for greatness and stand up for the freedom of the individual).
I can NOT WAIT for some snotty young Consultant to tell me he/she wont treat me as Im a smoker. I will tell him/her "And if 15 million of us had NEVER SMOKED - how the hell do you think the government would have paid to train the likes of you.
Get real. I work for a local council. I HAVE to have constant diversity training. Dont upset this..that..or the other minority. Well leave us smokers the hell alone.
Peter,
Like the idea about a discussion about the ban in general, perhaps we could involve the new health minister and his ash puppets to explain the tissue of lies they have given to the general public.

Why have you removed my article about the EU wanting fire safe fags. I posted this yesterday ans surely this is of interest to everyone
Those MPs have responsibilities to their smoking constituents as well. I hope they did not vote for the ban but I am interested in knowing!
This site is not reaching enough people. We need to reach out to everyone, 25% non smokers would bring down the government. How about a smokers re-united site.
Andrew, I have said before that this is a blog not a message board. Comments should be in response to the original post or, at the very least, the preceding comments. Cutting and pasting an entire article that has nothing to do with either is not in the spirit of this blog, hence its deletion.
simon..just how much money do Forest waste each year on all this blog crap, that could be better spent fighting the Govt in court, on human rights for smokers.
Its really so sad that people simply have absolutley nothing better to do than sneak. Tell tell tale your tongue will split!!! TUT Tut I am so fed up with being TOLD NO no no No AmandaH
