And - as I recall - the 'Mails' supported the Ban, too.
Didn't they ?
Just wait for the Good Ship Coalition to get its first real buffeting from the stormy weather ahead, and you'll soon hear the "Things-weren't-SO-bad-under-New-Labour' version of Nostalgic Idiocy.
Hell, there are still Russians living who miss Stalin.
Even though he had his little faults, admittedly.

If you click on Simon's link to the article, you can comment. I have just done so. If you do, point out that supermarket drinks (whether alcoholic or not) have ALWAYS been cheaper than pubs. It is about overheads. The killer has been the smoking ban - end of story. Why go to the pub and pay more and be miserable? That is what it is all about. Of course, the non-smokers are also rendered miserable because the pub is boring without the smokers.
"Im going to phone Mr Blair today, I think he'll be sad" What a laugh, just goes to show how Tony is still hoodwinking the numbskulls who put him into government while he's still laughing all the way to the bank, his main objective of getting elected in the first place. And then he goes and ruins Britain while his gobshite followers are still congratulating him. Some people never learn.

Welcome to the consequences.
A shame Simon that the Mail haven't printed a list of all the other clubs and pubs that have gone out of business because of the smoking ban - eh?
