Stick that in your bong and smoke it
Sunday, March 14, 2010
The Scottish Sunday Mail reports that in Scotland tobacconists will soon have to keep the humble pipe "out of sight in a locked cabinet or drawer ... However specialist outlets - known as head shops - which sell bongs and water pipes can keep them on display to customers. Bongs," the paper adds helpfully, "are mostly used to smoke cannabis but can also be adapted for harder drugs such as heroin and crack cocaine."

Looks like the net is tightening for us smokers.
Just read an item where it says that according to articles in the Spanish press and TV, Spains smoking laws are expected to change on 22 June.
The health minister is to once and for all bring Spain into line with many other EU countries where smoking will be banned from pubs/restaurants/bus/trains/airport terminals and hotels can have 30% of rooms reserved for smokers. And its expected to have the approval of all parties.
If this turns out to be true, then sadly, it looks like I'll have to put Spain on my hit list of countries to avoid in the future.
Having just come back from the TICAP conference in Holland, I thought I'd share this anecdote. Smoking tobacco was allowed in most bars but some only allowed the smoking of marijuana. It was quite bizare to have to roll a tobacco cigarette under the table discreetly, while little packets of hash were displayed on tables throughout the establishment.
It appears that marijuana will be legalised in the US and as William Cooke, who writes the Tobaccoland blog points out, one day it will be bought in shops while tobacco is sold on street corners. "Haven't we learned the lesson of prohibition?" he asks. Quite!
It just shows what a crazy upside down world we're living in Pat.
We've really gone the full circle of crazy.
