Match of the day

I am in Edinburgh today to watch Dundee United play Hearts. If we win I'll be pleasantly surprised. I've been taking my son to see United since he was four and he is not exactly a lucky mascot. In fact, he's only seen them win twice and I've lost count of the matches he's been to.
Our pre-Christmas record is particularly bad. Three years ago we watched them lose to Gretna - who are now defunct! The following year, after another eight-hour drive, we sat and shivered with 8,000 other hardy souls as, once again, we lost at home (to Hearts, as it happens).
Usually we drown our sorrows in in St Andrews (Pizza Express) or further down the coast in Anstruther, home of the famous Anstruther Fish Bar which I have previously written about HERE, HERE and, er, HERE.
Unfortunately he's got a rugby match in the morning so this year we'll be on the train south as soon as the game ends. We may even be home for Match of the Day.

Just entered the ground only to be advised to "Hold on to your ticket stubs in case the game is abandoned because of fog"!! Watch this space.
Update: 0-0. And we missed a penalty.
We also missed our train home, but that's another story.

yes very interesting. Im sure it will save lots of pubs...meanwhile.....
Uhm, Spocky. Personal blog - he's allowed a day off from fighting the good fight to watch the game with his son. You don't like it, don't read it, and then you won't feel compelled to post a whiny-ass comment. Or, y'know, go start a save our pubs and clubs campaign yourself while Simon takes a weekend away.
Hear it was one of those rare 0-0 draws that was actually a good game! Amazed you could see the other side of the pitch in Edinburgh today tbh.
Shut up Blue beard you crawling creep.
Spocky :)
This comes to mind.
I hope you both had your thermals on, (no don't tell)
